Midweek queues
|
As many of you may have noticed, games are running much less often during the days not covered by a Call to Arms event. Those days being Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
These days are much less busy for many reasons. Primarily because the honor benefit isn't as great and the queues are longer and more difficult to manage. It's also a nice break for our leaders and GM's alike. With that being said we do recognize cutting down our availability to 4 days out of the 3 day week effects a large section of our user base. The midweek is nice because it's a bit more laid back, less "honor farmy" and an ideal time to gun for achievements that our organization is well suited to attempt.
I wanted to post about this to let everyone know I will be paying much more attention to the midweek, refining the queuing strategy, and training leaders more specifically on how to play differently during the midweek. This is a direct result of your feedback to the trial of not queuing randoms during the midweek, and we basically were not running games from tue-thur.
Please continue to send your feedback about individual leaders, or the organization in general by right clicking on my, or any other name in Ventrilo, going to user -> lodge complaint about. As you've probably heard a thousand times this is a system for good or bad feedback, just keep your comments as constructive as possible.

AV Weekend
|
This last AV Call to Arms was probably the best yet. We had 2 games going for the most part from the start to the finish. On several occasions we had 4 games going and capped the vent server at 250 people more than once.
To be concise, I thnk this was the best AV weekend ever. We had some really fun games, got a lot of honor.
Special thanks to GM's Thorne and Emcee for cumulatively leading well over 200 AV's JUST during this one Call to Arms. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Just some quick math for fun.
200 games x 40 players = 8000 individual wins achieved.
8000 wins x about 6.5k honor per game giove or take. = 52,000,000 total honor contributed to the alliance of this battlegroup in this weekend alone. That's 52 MILLION honor farmed.
52 Million honor will buy the Alliance 1200 Wrathful offpeices at 42k a peice. Just... this... weekend. We've been doing this for 10 months.
and had some fun in the process..
GG.

Blizzard announces WSG 2.0
|

Located within the Twilight Highlands, the Twin Peaks remains a crucial point of high ground for staging effective and debilitating attacks against the black dragonflight and the Twilight's Hammer, who dominate this foreboding environment. And now, two previous occupants of the nearby city of Grim Batol vie once again for control of the peaks' defenses. The Wildhammer clan, architects and original owners of the once-great fortress city, maintains some operations in forested outposts of the highlands. The Wildhammers now call upon heroes of the Alliance to help claim the peaks and fend off the Dragonmaw orcs. The Dragonmaw clan, having spent years working to enslave red dragons, once again provides strategic importance to the Horde. As the Dragonmaw and Wildhammers fight for territory they once called home, the Alliance and Horde carry out the struggle to control the Twin Peaks.
Capture the Flag
Twin Peaks is a new 10 vs. 10, capture-the-flag-style battleground. Much like in Warsong Gulch, players must work to dominate variable terrain, infiltrate the enemy base, and steal the enemy flag, returning it to their fortress while remaining in control of their own flag. The first faction to capture three enemy flags before time expires will win the battle.
Dominating the Terrain
Although the Wildhammer and Dragonmaw bases are virtually identical, the terrain surrounding each base is not. Players will need to work to control an asymmetrical field where the mountain peaks are divided by a valley river. A single bridge over the river serves as a choke point in the center of the map; although deep, the river can be crossed. On either side of the river sits an outpost where temporary character enhancements can be claimed. In addition, tree stumps and rocks throughout the valley create strategic points for you to use line of sight to your advantage. To prevent absolute domination by one faction through its control of the enemy graveyard, the Horde and Alliance players resurrected in Twin Peaks will spawn from one of two graveyards per faction.
Wildhammer Longhouse
Serving as the Alliance stronghold in the north, the Wildhammer Longhouse hovers above the valley, atop a series of plateaus. With three entrances to the complex, players have two primary means of reaching the longhouse: scaling the plateaus to the northwest, or using the stairwell up the middle in order to access any of the three openings. Be careful, though! Falling or being knocked off the cliff can not only cause damage, but it can also hinder a successful offensive against or defense of the base.
Dragonmaw Clan Compound
Acting as the Horde base in the south, the Dragonmaw Clan Compound sits over a body of water into which the valley's river feeds. With three entrances to the compound, players have a few means of getting inside. One entrance on the southeast side requires riding up an incline and crossing a knee-deep river. A second entrance is through a water pipeline leading from the surrounding lake, while the main entrance can be accessed via a bridge over the waterfront. You'll want to be aware of your surroundings when you use the main entrance, though, because players can be knocked down into the water, slowing their advance or crippling their defense.
Those who seek to control Twin Peaks will face an intense battle. The lands surrounding this ever-troubled location are key strategic strongholds of Deathwing and all of his followers. The Twilight Highlands are as rich with history as they are fraught with disaster and tragedy. Will the Dragonmaw clan, reinforced by Garrosh's Horde, take control? Or will it be the Wildhammer dwarves, reunited with their Ironforge brethren and accepted into the Alliance, who seize the peaks?

WSG Weekend and Charity Discussion
|
Hello again,
AV Weekend was a huge success. We farmed some RIDICULOUS amounts of honor, we had some very entertaining run in's with horde premades with mostly wins resulting. It's always good to have a game that makes you sit up in your seats.
WSG is on the horizon starting at Friday 12:00am PST (about 9 hours from the time of this post) and WSG is always insane! We need more leaders to adjust to the ratio of leaders to quests required to keep all of our guests in game by majority. So, if you'd like to be a leader post up and show up on vent at the posted new leader training times. These usually occur on Thursday’s right before the call to arms.
The new yearly memberships have been very successful and as of right now the amount to be donated at the end of the month is already $95.00! Join the discussion as to which charity our monthly donation goes this month on the forums at http://www.queueq.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=527.
I'm working on a few articles; an updated FAQ and an answer to the question "What's going to happen in Cataclysm" so stay tuned.

AV Weekend and NEW yearly memberships.
|
Big News!
We're now offering a discounted 1 year membership. To buy membership for a year you'd typically have to donate 6 times over the course of the year for a total of $30. This new option is a better value, easier and more convenient. Also, $5 from every 1 year donation will go to a charity discussed and selected by myself and the community in our public forum.
AV Weekend is upon us, last AV weekend we farmed up some ridiculous amounts of honor and had a blast getting back to our AV roots and stomping some horde. Some leaders like to blitz continuously as the short games and short queues make for some excellent honor per hour, although not exactly very thrilling games. Others prefer to keep things interesting and run the standard strategy, taking and holding each honor gaining objective. Come join us and see which you prefer.
Many times throughout the weekend we anticipate to be running 2 or even 3 or MORE full premade groups so if you're a member, you'll be able to change rooms to suit which play style you prefer (and which leader).
Have fun this weekend!

Patch 3.3.3
|
Patch 3.3.3 has arrived and blizzard have changed the way you Q now for BGs. You can not see single games that are running anymore unless you are q'ing for the Call to Arms BG on the weekend. This has not stopped QQ premades though and we are in full swing. Jump onto Vent and lets farm some honor.
5 Man Random BG Daily Rooms
Members, You also might have noticed the new 5 man rooms that have been added to vent server. These rooms are for members only and are a place for 5 people from the same server to meet up and Q as a group for the random BG daily during the week. These will not be lead by a designated leader. They are meant as a way to meet up with others from your server to get your daily BG done when it's not the Call to Arms.
AV Call to Arms Weekend
The AV Call to Arms weekend on the 26 - 29 March was a success. We had record numbers of people on vent. At one point with 3 full AV games running and plenty of people still int he waiting room. After working out some tweeks to the AV strat to counter some horde behaviors we jumped onto the Honor Train and farmed it up. All and all it was a good weekend. To all the leaders that lead over the weekend we say thank
Other Call to Arms Weekends
The WSG Call to Arms weekend was also a success with at one point 5 WSG rooms running at the same time. We had some close games but overall it was a smash fest with games roughly going for 5 - 8 mins at a honor rate of 4k+. To all the leaders that lead over the weekend we say thank you.
New GMs
As you would of seen we have some new GMs they are:
Sola
Thorne
Xadrion
Bubbleoseven
Peace,

Season 8 is here.
|
Well folks, we've been at it for almost 6 months now. I have seen some pretty remarkable things both good and bad. There have been fishing poles a-plenty, achievements, honor caps, and mailboxes filled with badges. We've broadened our scope to include alternate bg's and a more consistent basis (you asked, we listened). I think we can call Season 7 a resounding success.
Now onto Season 8. Our reputation precedes us, we've got many returning members and guests for, as Kaylinaa so eloquently put it, Hunting Season. The vent server jsut about hit it's cap on day one at one point seeing nearly 140 people out of 150. It's safe to say this is going to be a busy hunting season.
Thank you to all of our leaders, currently leading or not, for stepping up to the plate and making sure that this organization succeeds. It could not and can not happen without you. Your diligence, hard work, patience, and resolve are appreciated beyond words.
Zevia has stepped down from the GM position and I have promoted up Emceehammer to be our new GM with another likely on the way to help us be more nimble and able to respond to inquiries, ensure leader coverage, and generally provide a better experience for everyone. If you have any questions, comments, or feedback about how we can do this, feel free to PM me on the forums, lodge feedback in vent, or just tap me on the shoulder.
Happy hunting,
QQ
